Iron Man3 previewWe here at Titan Casino like to stay on top of the latest trends, particularly when it comes to Marvel Comics’ latest cinematic adventures. Needless to say, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the latest installment of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man series, which follows the exploits of billionaire playboy Tony Stark, who defends the world from tyranny from inside a suit of high-tech armor. The actor is ready to suit up for the role for the fourth time this May in Iron Man 3, and we’ve got the inside scoop on what to expect.
When We Last Left the Series…
When we last saw Tony Stark on the big screen, he was leading a team of superheroes against alien invaders in the 2012 blockbuster ”Marvel’s The Avengers.” Before that, however, Stark had been suffering from palladium poisoning from the arc reactor in his chest that had kept him alive since the first film. As if that weren’t enough, our hero faced off with the fearsome Ivan Vanko, a rogue Russian scientist (played by Mickey Rourke) who developed his own suit of armor, as well as several robot drones programmed to attack Stark. Fortunately for the Iron Avenger, his good friend James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle), who donned the silver War Machine armor to aid him in his battle, was on hand to back him up.
Elsewhere, Tony’s girlfriend, Pepper Potts, was named CEO of Stark Enterprises and faced off with rival military contractor Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) with the help of loyal limo driver Happy Hogan (the film’s director, Jon Favreau) and super spy Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

A New Director and a New Threat…
For the first time in the Online Casino series, Iron Man 3 will have a new director in Shane Black, a Hollywood veteran who previously worked with Robert Downey Jr. on the 2005 film “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.” Black, who also shares screenwriting credits with Drew Pearce, wanted to place the characters in a more realistic setting, having Iron Man face off against villains that are both familiar and potentially real.
Drawing inspiration from the comics, notably the Extremis story arc by Warren Ellis, the director chose to pit Iron Man against possibly his greatest nemesis, The Mandarin. Created by comics legend Stan Lee in 1964, The Mandarin is one of the most powerful supervillains in the Marvel universe. The character, who was born to a Chinese father and a British mother, is a supremely intelligent martial artist who possesses 10 magic rings, each of which grants him a different super power including mind control, energy blasts, and the ability to fly.
For the film, the character’s mystical abilities will be toned down to fit the more realistic tone of the cinematic Marvel universe. Brought to life by Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, the film’s version of the Mandarin is the leader of the nefarious Ten Rings, a terrorist organization that actually kidnapped and imprisoned our hero in the first film. Though the studio has remained relatively quiet about the character, the film’s early trailers suggest that he is a ruthless and cunning opponent for Tony Stark both in and out of his armored suit.
Nods to the Comics
Though Iron Man 3 will certainly maintain the look and feel familiar to individuals who play Iron Man slots, Black was also certain to include a number of inside references to the character’s comic roots. In a photo spread for the upcoming issue of Empire, for example, Tony can be seen wearing a shirt with the logo of the Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM) – a villainous set of super scientists who have long been foes of the Avengers. Whether it’s a one-off reference or an indication of things to come remains to be seen, but many comics blogs are enthusiastic that the mention could lay the groundwork for M.O.D.O.K., the organization’s villainous leader and a fan-favorite character, to make an appearance in later Marvel movies.
Similarly, early press photos showed Cheadle’s James Rhodes donning the ‘Iron Patriot’ armor – a red, white and blue variant of the Mark 3 armor that was used by the villainous Norman Osborn while he pretended to be a hero. The paint job is also currently being worn by the Iron Man of Marvel’s ‘Ultimate’ line of comics, which is set in an alternate universe where superheroes first emerged in the late 1990s, rather than the 60s.
Other small treats for fans of the comics include appearances by Chen Wu, a character who would one day become the villainous Radioactive Man; Jack Taggert, who would become the monstrous Firepower; and yet another cameo by Iron Man co-creator, Stan Lee.
